Piet Rutgers
Piet has been making custom furniture in the Arts and Crafts style for 16 years. Since his retirement as an urban planner, woodworking has become an almost full-time vocation with a commensurate increase in client base. His clients are from the Comox Valley, Victoria, the BC mainland and Alberta.

He designs his pieces in cooperation with his interior designer wife Kate, who carefully dimensions his conceptual designs. Clients are provided with conceptual and detailed drawings to facilitate a design process that creates unique furniture suited to their particular needs.

Over the years he has honed his techniques and developed a repertoire of design themes, details and finishes that characterize his furniture. He builds his furniture in an oceanside heritage cottage, which reminds him daily that fine woodwork should be a lasting legacy. The workshop is fully equipped with the finest hand and power tools.

Piet was selected to be an artisan at the Filberg Festival for six years (2011 to 2019). He is now accepting commissions for custom furniture in the Arts and Crafts and Danish styles.
